Public Power, not-for-profit, community-owned utility.

Employer of Choice

When asked, most employees will tell you that the best part of working for LES is having coworkers who are driven to deliver exceptional service. Every day, we work to make the communities we serve a better place to live – from answering calls in our customer care center to fixing transformers at the top of a pole.

And LES has been recognized for its low costs, reliability, financial stability, innovation, environmental stewardship, community involvement and exceptional customer service. This commitment to our customers stems from a powerful purpose.

In 1966, Lincoln Electric System was founded as a nonprofit, customer-owned utility. As a public power company, LES is owned by the communities it serves – the cities of Lincoln, Prairie Home, Waverly, Walton, Cheney and Emerald.

The city of Lincoln is led by its mayor and city council, which has final approval of LES’ rates, budget and debt financing.
