Powering your life
For over 50 years, we’ve been powering homes and businesses throughout Lincoln and the surrounding area. Our everyday focus is helping people within the community by providing safe, reliable and affordable electricity.
By delivering electricity through the walls, ceilings and floors of these structures, we also provide power to the people who live and work within them. Consider how you use electricity through your day — from the alarm clock that awakens you to the light you turn off at night.
LES makes operational decisions based on local issues and priorities.
We again teamed up with Community Action Partnership to fight poverty by providing over $300,000 in utility assistance to qualifying households who needed aid in covering their electricity bill.
In 2018, LES made payments in lieu of tax totaling $12.9 million to the Lincoln Public Schools district, Lancaster County, and the cities of Lincoln and Waverly. In addition, LES made city dividend for utility ownership payments of $7.4 million to the City of Lincoln.
Our employees continued to generously support community causes through employee-funded drives and events, such as our CEDARS Summer Drive and United Way campaigns, or events like the Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon and American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
During a crisis, we are there when you need us most. And, as a valued member of the public power family, we support other communities during emergencies. LES responded to Hurricane Michael through the APPA’s mutual aid network by dispatching 14 employees and nine service trucks to help with anticipated storm damage on the East Coast.
Our passion to be one of the nation’s most efficient public power utilities is inspired by our customers, employees and great community. Because of you, we’ll continue to help people live their best lives through the electricity we provide today and the energy future we’re building together for tomorrow.
Thank you for being the purpose behind our power.
